Fonetically Speeking, Of Corse

The English language is so silly (and one of the most difficult to learn). Seems like we're at the whim of spelling rules that aren't uniform across the spectrum.

If we were allowed to spell words like we pronounce them, writing would be so much more funner.

If you're a strict linguist, I offer my apologies, because you're probably writhing on the floor gnashing your teeth and frothing at the mouth after looking at the above visuals.

Please feel free to contact me once the effects wear off for a translation...

  1. Where are the rewards for those of us who learned the "right" way to spell things? We have to protect our clique of exclusiveness. Like your post about Syria.

    1. I'd say a gold star, but they seem to be giving those out to just about everyone in class these days (from what I hear)...

      Thanks Linda!

  2. Funny, that. I always thought French was harder to learn. I know that when I write in French, I consciously go over grammar rules. I review all the rules for conjugating properly, and matching up all the genders and numbers, and remembering all the exceptions.

English, on the other hand, just flows. Most of the time, I don't even know the grammar rules!
